Slideshow

Description

A slideshow is similar to a header image content type with the exception that this image fills the width of the screen.  Like the Header Image, it is always displayed at the top of the screen. These slides will automatically scroll every few seconds.

Size of Image: 2200X400/600/800px

Example

Note that if you insert a single slide, you are able to create one static impactful header for your page.

How to use it

Using the slideshow content type requires the use of two types of content as explained further in the following subsections.

  1. Slideshow Container
  • Select create content from the actions menu beside the section you wish to add content to.
  • The following menu will popup listing all the content types that are available. The content types listed will depend on the level of access that you have been granted.
  • If the content type is not immediately visible, you can search for it by typing in words. Even typing in “slid” in the search window will bring up the following content type.

  • Click on the radio button next to the Slideshow container.
  • Click on the Next button and the following window will become visible.

  • Enter a name for the content and this is mandatory. This will not be displayed on the published page, but simply act as a name within SiteManager. In this example, the same name as the container type is used for ease of reference.
  • Click on Save changes.

The next section will explain how to create the slides for this container. Do not attempt to place more than one slideshow container within a section because it will not work.

2. Slide

  • In the same section where you have created the Slideshow container, click on Create new content and you will be presented with the following screen.

  • Select Slide and click on Next and the following window will pop up.

  • Enter a Name for the content and the number is irrelevant. The position of the slide is based purely on the order in which the contents are listed.
  • Next to Imageclick on Select media and choose an appropriate image for this feature box.
  • Title will be the main title for this piece of content. This will appear in larger writing
  • Enter a brief Description bearing in mind that the amount of text written will correspond to the amount of area used to display the text over the image. In other words, too much text will almost hide the image.
  • Add section link or Add a content link will allow you specify the location where more information can be found on this particular slide. This is optional but it is a useful way draw attention to your content.
  • Click Save changes to save the content once completed.

In this manner, you may add as many slides and sort them accordingly. Please note that the ability to slide through the feature boxes will only become possible when there are more than one slide. If your slide does not display, simply reorder (move) that slide content closer to the top. However, the slide content must always be beneath the slideshow container. The slides always display in the order that they appear in the list of contents.
