The People's Guide

This People's Guide to Archives in South Africa seeks to provide explanations and links to ways in which civil society, researchers and organisations can be empowered in order to gain access to government and other records for research purposes and as a matter of administrative justice, transparency and accountability.

The Guide is the result of a collaboration by the Wits History Workshop, the South African History Archive (SAHA), the Public Affairs Research Institute (PARI), and the Historical Papers Research Archive at the University of the Witwatersrand, with the support of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

The Guide is meant to be shared freely by archives, civil society organisations and individuals, and it can also be accessed on the public platform of ISSUU, where it allows for utilizing the links that are provided in the Guide.
