New SAJEM Editor-In-Chief

-

Associate Professor Yudhvir Seetharam has been appointed editor-in-chief of the South African Journal of Economics and Management Sciences (SAJEMS)

Dear CLM colleagues

We are delighted to share with you the excellent news that Associate Professor Yudhvir Seetharam has been appointed editor-in-chief of the South African Journal of Economics and Management Sciences (SAJEMS), a leading South African-based publication for interdisciplinary research in the economic and management sciences. The journal publishes and disseminates high-quality academic articles that contribute to the better understanding of the interaction between economic, environmental and social perspectives as applicable to the broader management sciences in an African environment.

As the new Editor-in-Chief, Professor Seetharam brings both practical and academic experience to the journal. He is an associate Professor of Behavioural Finance in our School of Economics and Finance (SEF). He is also the Head of Analytics, Insights and Research at FNB Business. By combining fields of data science, psychology and finance, he is able to bring interdisciplinary thinking to add commercial value to many financial services. He is actively involved in banking and finance, including being a Governor of the SA Institute of Financial Markets.

Over the short term, he plans on establishing SAJEMS as a premier local (and continental) outlet for data-driven research in the broad field of Business Sciences, bringing more "science" to "business". The research community relies on credible, well-respected journals in which to publish research and broaden academic discourse, which makes the role of editors very important for institutions such as Wits.

We are very proud that a SEF staff member has been appointed to this important position. It demonstrates the quality of our academics and our research and is a feather in the cap both for Prof Seetharam and for SEF.

Please join me in congratulating him on this appointment.

Sincerely

Professor Jason Cohen
