PeCo Grids

Globally 1.1 billion people don’t have access to electricity, 600 million in Africa as per World Bank estimates. PeCo grids aim to address this challenge by pursuing a de-centralised paradigm for off-grid electrification, enabled by several recent developments:

  • The semiconductor revolution has unlocked new possibilities for electrification.
  • Computing and communication has hugely benefited from this, and the impact can be observed all over the planet.
  • The decrease in PV costs over the past decades makes this the clear go-to source of electrical energy.
  • Improved understanding of complex systems allow for new algorithms and operating models that unlocks new opportunities to reach people in rural areas effectively and affordably.
