Grammar for English Teachers aims to provide pre- and in-service English teachers with a solid knowledge of English grammar. This online course enables you to improve your own grammar knowledge.

PLEASE NOTE: All upcoming courses are offered ONLINE.

Course Fee

The course costs R6 300.

Classes are subject to a minimum of 8 students. We reserve the right not to run a particular course in an intake if there is insufficient demand. 

Duration

The course is online and runs for 5 weeks (40 hours).

Qualification

Participants who meet all minimum requirements for the course are awarded a certificate of competence. 

Programme Overview

Language Enhancement for Teachers is a practical course, providing in-service teacher training and development for practicing English teachers. It is designed to build on teachers’ existing knowledge of English grammar to develop awareness and understanding of advanced language structures. The course aims to build confidence in applying this knowledge in your professional capacity as an English teacher, becoming a model for accurate and complex language use. In turn, this would then improve your students’ English language proficiency.

Curriculum

Introduction to Grammar, Grammar Terminology, Parts of Speech, Parts of Words, Nouns and Adjectives, Transition Signals, Verbs, Modal Auxiliary Verbs, Tenses, Questions, Conditionals, Passives, Reported Speech, Phrasal Verbs, Figurative Language, Clauses, Register and Professional Development.

Entry Requirements

Please ensure you meet the following requirements when applying for the course: 

  • Minimum 18 Years                             
  • Matric Certificate                                 
  • A Recognised TESOL/TEFL/CELTA Certificate (120 hours) OR a PGCE/B.Ed
