Overview

The Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) is evolving into a space in which the Faculty of Health Sciences will build its capacity to reflect on teaching and learning as one of the central components of the business of a university.

The office is located at the intersection of teaching, learning and the supportive environment in which both of these can thrive.

The vision of the office is to develop staff to become engaged and reflective educators who see themselves as change agents through transformative curricula which produce health professionals capable of making a difference to the health of the people of South Africa.

The Office of the Assistant Dean: Teaching and Learning

This portfolio is responsible for the following key areas:

• Academic development of staff
• Quality assurance of academic programmes
• Processing of new academic developments
• Building an institutional climate conducive to learning
• Undergraduate affairs

The OTL works together with a number of stakeholders especially the Faculty Registrar and the Office of Student Success.
